Forge Krav Maga Student Level Testing Overview
At Forge Krav Maga San Francisco, testing is your opportunity to demonstrate your growth, resilience, and mastery of the techniques you’ve been training hard to perfect. Testing is a core part of our curriculum, offering a structured way to progress through the system and celebrate your achievements.
When and Where? Testing happens approximately every three months and is open to all levels in our system, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Test dates will be posted in the Events section of our website and displayed on flyers at the gym, so keep an eye out for updates.
What to Expect. Our tests are designed to challenge you—physically, mentally, and technically. They typically last around five hours and require grit, stamina, and focus. You’ll need indoor and outdoor shoes, and we recommend bringing a dry shirt because you will sweat. A lot.
Instructor Approval. Participation in testing requires approval from your instructor, ensuring you’re fully prepared to succeed. If you’re ready to test, your instructor will guide you on the next steps.

To qualify for testing at each level, students must complete a specific number of classes. Those classes may include Krav Classes of any level, full combat and kickboxing.

Pricing and Outcomes
The cost for testing is $120, which includes as many retests as necessary if you do not pass on your first attempt. Testing outcomes fall into four categories:
Incomplete: You could not complete the test. You are not eligible to take the next level of classes. Take the time to get healthy, train more, and try again.
Fail: You did not pass the test. Work with your instructor to identify areas for improvement, train more, and retest when ready. You are not eligible to take the next level of classes.
Conditional Pass: Most students receive a conditional pass, meaning you successfully demonstrated most techniques but need to refine a few. Get feedback from your instructor, train, and demonstrate your improvements to them. Once approved, you can advance to the next level of classes.
Pass: You demonstrated all techniques perfectly and are fully eligible to advance to the next level of classes.
Important Note You must pass the P1 test before enrolling in the Full Combat class. This ensures you have the foundational skills, control, and confidence to participate safely in the dynamic and realistic training scenarios Full Combat offers.
How to Prepare
Testing isn’t just about knowing the techniques—it’s about performing them under pressure. Attend classes regularly, practice at home, and ask your instructors for tips and guidance. Your preparation will determine your confidence and success on test day.
